INTRODUCTION

Installers of suspended signage, screens, partitions and acoustic panels often face complex and varying requirements.

These applications take many forms, and this guide highlights the most common ones.

To deliver a successful solution, installers must focus on attention to detail, safety, and security.

Ceiling type, load requirements, and service connections are all critical factors. You must assess and address each one thoroughly. Zip-Clip offers a comprehensive range of purpose-designed solutions to meet these demanding needs.

WHERE CAN WIRE ROPE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS BE USED?

Zip-Clip wire rope systems provide solutions for suspension, bracing and more. As a result, they offer exceptional versatility and functionality.

These systems support proven load capacities ranging from 15 kg to 500 kg per wire. Additionally, every system includes a built-in safety factor to ensure peace of mind. Wire rope allows for longer drops without the need for extra couplers.

Furthermore, systems comply with the 18th Edition Amendment 2:2022 unless stated otherwise.

Typical uses include:

  • Light to heavy-duty signage
  • Acoustic ceilings, islands, and baffles

FIXING SOLUTIONS

The Zip-Clip product range includes suspension options for light, medium, and heavy-duty applications. We also provide anchoring solutions for concrete, steel frames, metal-decking, and timber structures.

Concrete anchors, compliant with BS 8539:2012, can be tested on-site by CFA-certified technical managers. This service is available upon request.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Zip-Clip systems are designed to support static loads only. Avoid dynamic or shock loads, as these can significantly increase stress on the system and compromise safety. Always use genuine Zip-Clip wire rope to maintain system integrity.

If your installation may involve dynamic loading, consider using the S-SYSTEM or a higher-rated model. Doing so provides added peace of mind in more demanding environments.

Important Safety Notes:

  • Never exceed the stated Safe Working Load (SWL).
  • Avoid using locking devices with coated wire rope.
  • Do not paint, coat, or lubricate components.
  • Do not use for lifting applications.
  • Remove frayed cable before inserting into locking devices.
  • Avoid shock loading at all times.
  • Never use non-Zip-Clip products with Zip-Clip systems.
  • Do not use in corrosive environments. For specialist use cases, consult the Zip-Clip Technical Department.

INSTALLATION FACTORS

Installers should always consider the forces introduced during the installation process. If dynamic forces are expected, select a heavier-duty support system.

Ball Strikes

In environments like sports halls, where ball strikes are likely, choose higher-duty wire rope supports. These offer better resistance to shock loads. However, please note: Zip-Clip cannot guarantee system performance in the event of ball impacts.
