Last week, the Zip-Clip sales team stepped away from the office and into the beautiful surroundings of Ruckley Estate. A venue built on British innovation, entrepreneurial success and authentic family values.

Owned by the Ashbourne family since the 1960s, the Estate has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving hub of business excellence. It is home to Rothley Limited, one of Zip-Clip’s longstanding international partners alongside several leading British brands.

“You arrive impressed by the scale, you leave inspired by the story.”

Our experience was made truly special thanks to:

The Ashbourne family – for their generosity and insight.

Ken Bates – for his warm hospitality and expert guidance throughout the day.

Julie Bates – for sharing her brilliant presentation expertise.

Despite their global network and impressive accomplishments, everyone at Ruckley made us feel instantly at ease – a family rooted in ambition, but grounded in gratitude.

The day began in the traditional Shooting Lodge – a quiet and private space perfect for strategic thinking. Together we:

● Reviewed upcoming business growth plans

● Discussed individual focus areas

● Set the tone for ambitious 2026 goals

● Explored new opportunities for collaboration

A standout moment came from a session with Julie Bates, who demonstrated confidence, clarity and communication excellence, lessons we’re excited to apply in our own customer interactions.

“Julie’s session was a masterclass in storytelling and authenticity.”

After lunch, the pace picked up. We swapped notepads for boots – and a pair of ear defenders!

We were guided by Marcus Iddon and Drennan Kenderdine, two exceptional shooting instructors.

Marcus, a decorated clay shooter and international competitor, brought calm precision and expert guidance to every station. His focus on technique, safety and steady improvement helped even first-time shooters find confidence and rhythm from the start.

Drennan, a world-class instructor with over 40 years of experience in both clay and game shooting, shared his technique, focus and performance mindset with us – helping each of us see noticeable improvements from the very first shots.

Their guidance ensured that all members of the team, from complete beginners to those with a stronger aim were challenged appropriately and enjoyed every moment.

“Marcus and Drennan made the impossible feel achievable and made sure we had a lot of laughs along the way.”

Activities included:

● Off-road Land Rover riding through rugged estate terrain

● Clay shooting across the lake with expert techniques and tips

● Tailored skill coaching for all experience levels

● Plenty of friendly competition and laughter

We concluded the day in one of the Estate’s most unique spaces Ken’s personal pub, a cosy setting usually reserved for close friends and guests. Drinks were poured, stories were shared, and the team spirit was stronger than ever.

Ruckley Estate offers:

● Dedicated corporate hospitality

● Private and peaceful meeting spaces

● Unique outdoor team-building experiences

● Support from industry and sporting experts

● An environment that inspires both confidence and connection
