Vic Coupland Ltd needed a faster, simpler way to suspend multiple services in a Hull paddle court and sports centre. A Zip-Strut solution was designed on site, quoted the same day and delivered in under 3 days.

The customer
A major Hull contractor, new to Zip-Strut
Vic Coupland Ltd is one of the larger contractors in Hull. Zip-Clip have worked with them before on the HVAC side, but this was their first Zip-Clip electrical project and their first order of Zip-Strut. The order came through Edmundson Electrical in Hull, with Craig Harman, Assistant Branch Manager, as our contact.
The challenge
An over-specified design and a supplier that let them down
The enquiry arrived from Edmundson Electrical, Hull, on 18 August with a design from a competitor that looked heavily over-specified and expensive. That supplier had already let the contractor down on lead time and service, so the distributor asked whether Zip-Clip could help.
The site added its own limits. Several services ran side by side, drilling and looping around the beams and purlins wasn’t possible, and a fire wall had already been installed down the middle partition and ceiling.

The next morning, 19 August, our North East Regional Sales Manager, Gemma, walked the site with Mark, Director at Vic Coupland. With James Horton, our R&D Commercial Director, on FaceTime, we designed the whole job there and then. For the services running side by side we specified two-tier, multi-stacked Zip-Strut in 800mm lengths.
Paddle court
Most services suspended by loops around the existing Unistrut.
Upstairs gym
Suspended using Con-Lock anchors, with no beam fixings needed.
Fire wall
Wire wasn’t an option, so we suggested cantilevering from the wall instead.
