Atlas seismic snubbers are designed to restrain equipment such as MEP plant from movement caused by seismic or other dynamic forces and keep it in place. Snubbers are available as single or multi-directional versions and can be used in conjunction with seismic spring mounts, inertia bases, and vibration mats. Snubbers incorporate heavy-duty fixing points to anchor both the equipment and the building structure.
To ensure performance, a minimum number should be utilised per item of equipment.
The Atlas SSZ range of seismic snubbers are a multi-directional snubber designed to stop movement from any direction and can be used with equipment that has a high centre of gravity.
SSZ seismic snubbers are manufactured from structural steel with a powder coat finish and come with a neoprene inner to prevent steel-to-steel shock loads.
Once installed SSZ snubbers will only come into contact with the equipment during a seismic/ dynamic event, therefore allowing equipment to oscillate freely without transferring vibration to the building structure.
A minimum of four SSZ snubbers are required per piece of equipment and must be used in conjunction with the vibration isolator pads.
- Tested to the ANSI-ASHRAE 171 Standard by TÜV Austria.
- Provides protection against seismic/dynamic loads from all directions.
- Does not require connection to the equipment.
- Should be installed on all sides of the equipment.
- Rubber surfaces to mitigate steel-to-steel shock loads.
- Anchor bolt, bolt, or welded mounting can be provided depending on floor type.
